Ford Escape/Kuga 2000-2007
Ford Escape is a compact crossover and is the favorite of Americans. The Ford Escape was developed by Ford together with Mazda and was launched together with the Mazda Tribute in 2000.
In other markets, the first-generation models were either replaced by updated first-generation versions or replaced by the Mazda CX-7 (2006) and Ford Kuga (2008).
Also, both cars share the same platforms, have a similar unibody design, with a fully independent suspension.
The Ford Escape came in two trim levels, XLS and XLT and was available with 2WD and AWD. Under the hood, the Ford Escape came with 2.0-liter, 2.3-liter, or 3.0-liter engines. At the same time, the first generation Escape was the first SUV to offer a hybrid transmission option, launched in 2004 only in North American markets.

Next, the new model used the same platform from the first generation, the interior was completely redesigned. For the first time, the car had seats made of softer material and 100% recycled material. On the outside, the headlights were bigger, it came with a new front grille and revised rear fascia. The Ford Escape also received standard side curtain airbags and electronic stability control.

Ford Escape/Kuga III 2012-2016
Here, the third generation Ford Escape comes with big changes. Ford unified the model with the European-designed Ford Kuga to have a single vehicle per segment internationally.
Let’s see the changes. First of all, the front fascia had slanted headlights and an aerodynamically improved front bumper, which gave it a much more modern look. Secondly, inside, the car was completely redesigned, it came with a new generation of MyFord Touch and a color screen.
Unlike the European model, the Escape was not equipped with diesel engines, V6, nor did it have a hybrid version. But it was equipped with a very fuel-efficient 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that was more powerful than the V6. The base model had a 2.5 liter engine.

Inside, the car looks much better, it comes with modern and very elegant elements.
The Ford Escape comes with four new engine and transmission combinations, including an electric and gas hybrid, as well as a conventional hybrid and two turbo engines mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Also returning is the Escape Hybrid, which offers a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine mated to a CVT. The Escape will also be offered as a plug-in hybrid with an electric-only range of 30 miles.
