Honda HR-V 1998-2002
Using the Civic platform, the Honda HR-V was first launched in 1999 and was sold exclusively in Japan, and later in Europe. Initially, the car was available in the three-door version, and later the five-door version was also introduced. In terms of design, the Honda HR-V was a mix between an SUV and a compact station wagon. The headlights were oddly shaped, the tailgate was flat, and the roof was straight and had a rear wing.
Inside, the car was very spacious, perfect for a large family. It had electric windows, air conditioning, power steering, folding rear seats and heat-absorbing windows, features that were quite rare for that period.
The Honda HR-V was available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and was equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with 106 horsepower.

Honda HR-V Facelift 2002-2005
In 2002, the HR-V received an exterior and interior facelift. Also, the facelift model came only in the five-door version. In addition, Honda added a new type of engine, also 1.6 liters, but with more horsepower.

Honda HR-V II 2015-2018
The second generation of the Honda HR-V was launched after a long time, only in 2014. The new HR-V was completely redesigned, being a real success. This time, the car was designed on the Fit platform, at that time being the smallest SUV from Honda. At the same time, the appearance of the car was inspired by coupes, now having a sloped roof and the rear door handle being hidden.
Inside, the car has a simple design, being equipped with an infotainment touchscreen.
The new HR-V from 2014 came with two engine options, on gasoline with 1.5 or 1.8 liter engines, and on diesel with a 1.6 liter engine.

Honda HR-V II Facelift 2018-2020
Four years later, Honda also launched a facelift model for the second generation HR-V. It came with revised front and rear styling, with a new grille, bumpers, and lights. The interior was also slightly modified, the main unit being updated and coming with connectivity to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Under the hood, Honda also introduced a hybrid engine option, 1.5 liters and 152 horsepower.

Honda HR-V III 2021-Present
For the third generation, it seems that Honda used the same strategy as when it launched the previous generation HR-V. Namely, it introduced a completely new design. So, in 2021, the next Honda HR-V model was launched, which at first glance presented a minimalist design and many curved lines. In front, it had a grid with horizontal slats of the same color as the body, with the Honda logo placed in the center on a blue background.
Minimalism was carried over to the interior of the car as well, the dashboard was completely redesigned, the touch screen for the infotainment system being positioned above, with, of course, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Under the hood, Honda introduced a new hybrid system, e:HEV, composed of a 1.5-liter engine, two electric units and a 60-cell lithium-ion battery pack. It develops 131 horsepower and reaches 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds.

Honda HR-V 2023-Present
For 2023, Honda is preparing a new SUV from the HR-V range. It will be bigger, more spacious, more powerful and with more technology on board. The new HR-V now shares a platform with that of the Civic model, and thus comes with a new multilink rear suspension, which increases both comfort and performance.
In terms of exterior design, the new HR-V introduces a new large front grille and blackened air intakes in the bumper. At the same time, the rear spoiler and rear bumper give the car a touch of sportiness.
Inside we find aspects borrowed from the Civic model, we have a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with a physical volume button and some buttons in the climate area. There are also some rearrangements on the center console and the armrest.
Under the hood, the new HR-V is equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower.
